We are looking for a Workshop Technician (Machinist) to join our team in Aberdeen. This role is a key position within our workshop operations, responsible for machining, assembling, maintaining, and repairing hydraulic and mechanical equipment to the highest standards of quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining, mechanical repair, and maintenance. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machinery and mechanical components, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Fulfil and satisfy HTUS Rental Ops Equipment rental orders as needed and maintain equipment fleet availability levels.
- Perform diagnostic assessments on machinery and mechanical components to identify issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various types of machinery, including lathes, mills, grinders, clamshells, flange facing and other equipment.
- Conduct precision machining operations to restore equipment to optimal working condition.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Manage repair part stock levels within area required as well as initiating purchase requisitions as needed for customer approved repair parts.
- Provide technical support and training to other technicians and staff.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in machining technology.
- Ensure all HSSEQ rules and regulations are communicated and enforced throughout the Organization.
- Report Safety Observations, both positive and negative.
- Transport equipment between local facilities/customer sites; this includes delivering and picking up rental equipment in a company truck.
- Participates in the On-call rotation that may include occasional evenings and weekends.
- Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times, both internally and externally.
- Proficiency in operating and repairing CNC machines, lathes, mills, clamshells, flange facers and grinders.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, techniques, and tools.
- Computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Windows software suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and company business ERP system.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- GCSEs or equivalent secondary education qualifications.
- A technical qualification or certification in machining or mechanical repair is preferred.
- Proven experience as a machining technician or similar role.
- Forklift certification is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass site specific background/drug tests.
