Our client, a prominent player in the oil and gas sector, is currently seeking a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. Based out of the Aberdeen office, you will lead a team of engineers and designers, supporting the broader multi-disciplinary design and construction teams working on petrochemical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicating confidently and authoritatively with clients
- Challenging and delivering value engineering solutions
- Maintaining the required technical quality of work produced by the Civil and Structural team
- Ensuring all assigned work complies with the agreed budget and schedule
- Reviewing and checking drawings, calculations, specifications and related documentation for civil and structural works
- Developing design documents, reports and specifications
- Communicating designs effectively to the wider teams
- Delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting in developing the knowledge and skills of the Civil and Structural team
- Leading and managing teams effectively
- Supporting and guiding junior team members
- Ensuring safety by design with a strong focus on assessing and articulating risks
- Appreciating the requirements of temporary works
Job Requirements:
- A BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
- Considerable experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer in the petrochemical sector
- Knowledge of Energy Sector industry norms and specifications
- Competence in the design of foundations, pipe supports, pipe racks/tracks, rotating equipment supports, gas process structures, drainage, steel, concrete and temporary works
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment
- A UK driving licence
- Offshore experience (beneficial but not essential)
