The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Solar PV Engineer to help deliver high-quality solar installations across residential and commercial properties. With a focus on solar panel installations systems, you’ll be on sites, installing our bespoke solar PV projects, from large ground mounts and commercial units to bespoke rooftop and ground mount installations using market leading manufacturers and technology.

In this dynamic role, you’ll work closely with our electrician teams and Project Managers to ensure installations are safe, efficient, and built to last. We’re after someone who takes pride in their technical expertise, enjoys problem-solving on-site, and is always looking to grow their skills. Responsibilities:

  • Roofing Installation: Install roofing components of solar PV systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is safe and compliant with current regulations.
  • Installation Quality: Complete installations efficiently, cost-effectively, and to a high standard.
  • Survey Support: Support roofing aspects of domestic and commercial surveys and system design.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Electrical Engineers as needed.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain full health & safety compliance with legal and corporate standards.
  • Knowledge Development: Keep technical knowledge up to date through training and self-learning.
  • Project Documentation: Ensure project documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Reporting: Provide timely and accurate reporting as required.
  • Methodology Adherence: Apply TLGEC methodology and adhere to all site standards.
  • Resource Management: Identify and manage project resources and materials efficiently.
  • Documentation Awareness: Maintain up-to-date understanding of TLGEC methodology, RAMS, and relevant site/project documentation.

What we’re looking for:

  • Roofing Expertise: Skilled in all types of roofing, including preparation work; ideally experienced in solar installations and mounting panels on various building types.
  • Material Knowledge: In-depth understanding of roofing materials and associated equipment.
  • Tool Proficiency: Proficient in the safe and effective use of standard roofing hand and power tools.
  • System Familiarity: Familiar with a wide range of roofing systems, materials, and installation techniques.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel on occasion.

Extra Credit:

  • Trade Qualification: City & Guilds/NVQ Trade Qualified or equivalent, with demonstrable experience.
  • Certifications: CSCS – SSSTS – SMSTS.
  • Safety Training: Harness Training.
  • Equipment Licenses: Telehandler, scissor lift, and FLT Licence.
  • Installer Status: Approved renewable installer.
  • Regulations Certification: Level 3 Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings | City & Guilds 2393-10.
  • Inspection & Testing: Level 3 Initial and Fundamental Inspection and Testing | City & Guilds 2394.
