The Role

James Fisher Renewables is seeking an experienced Operational Planning Manager to ensure our projects are effectively planned and resourced for smooth execution. In this role, you’ll work across departments to develop and implement efficient, standardised processes that align with contractual and business requirements.

You’ll lead internal improvement initiatives, coordinate team activities, and align working practices to boost performance. This includes monitoring staff performance, supporting development, and managing risks related to project delivery and process change.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Lead and foster an effective safety culture aligned with JFR HSEQ Philosophy
  • Oversee project administration, including travel booking, timesheet submission, expenses and other administration to ensure the projects run smoothly.
  • Ensure that the Project Coordination team effectively manage the invoicing process and all of the above are charged accurately, completely and promptly to the customers.
  • Track competence needed for various operational projects and support the business in ensuring the correct training and people development pipeline is in place to meet future operational delivery.
  • Support the operational and project delivery teams to deliver their scope in the most effective manner possible.
  • Support the Portfolio Improvement Manager in identifying areas for business improvement and process efficiencies.
  • Lead internal projects to identify and implement improvements.
  • Oversee and monitor the performance of identified staff including project support and planning to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Collect and analyse feedback from project teams and stakeholders to identify key trends, recurring issues, and actionable insights.
  • Continuously evaluate opportunities for improving workflow by utilising software solutions, driving and supporting their implementation.
  • Support the Project Management Office and/or SLT team with additional tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience

• Operational planning experience strongly preferred

• Experience within an engineering operational and or project environment advantageous.

• Proven experience in leading and managing a team through change.

• Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean/Six Sigma.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships within internal JFR teams and across the wider James Fisher business.

• Experience in managing small to medium-sized projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

• Ability to identify and mitigate risks associated with project execution and process improvements.

• Strong written and planning skills.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Highly organised and detail oriented.

• Ability to balance short term requests while also focusing on long-term improvements.
