We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as an Electrical Technician at Rye Meads Sewage Treatments Works.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and some mechanical equipment.
You will also be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying- out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on Electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
PPE and tools will be provided, and a van will be supplied for of hours duty when the necessary training period has been completed.
What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner to avoid interruptions to the process.

This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.

You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, various conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.

Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
Base Location: Rye Meads Sewage Works – SG12 8JY.
Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours per week 7;30 am- 3:36 pm. (Plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment).

NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering is essential.

18th Edition qualification is desirable, but training can be provided.

Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies are required.

Significant experience in electrical systems ideally working in an industrial environment.

A valid driving license is required.

Competitive salary paying up to £36,500 per annum. (Subject to your level of experience, skills and qualifications)

Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 days with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
