This new role of Programme Support Officer has been created to support a new Energy Saving Trust project looking to administer grants aimed at upgrading and retrofitting off-grid households. You will play a key role in administering capital grant funding for eligible households that are currently off-grid and suitable for retrofit interventions, supporting their transition from alternative fuel sources to low and zero carbon heating systems.

You will lead all aspects of programme grant administration, working closely with the advice centre and liaising with delivery subcontractors and local authority partners to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the programme.

The retrofit advice team's purpose is to enable households to reduce energy costs and reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. We provide energy advice services, retrofit advice and manage and administer loans and grants for energy saving and low or zero-carbon improvements to homes and businesses on behalf of governments and local authorities. We manage programmes across the UK with more being added as we grow in response to demand. We collaborate and support each other, sharing expertise and best practice and innovate to deliver world-class customer experience. Our work is service-focused and seeing the impact we have on the lives of people we support is what brings us to work each day.

What you will do:

  • Provide efficient grant administration of the programme, including but not limited to:
  • Review grant applications and supporting evidence against eligibility criteria and identifying missing information.
  • Undertaking due-diligence on the evidence provided by partner organisations.
  • Undertaking due-diligence on eligible householders for the grant funding.
  • Identify, record, and manage grant administration issues and dependencies, escalating as necessary to the Programme Manager.
  • Reviewing and processing grant claims, ensuring payments are accurate and comply with programme requirements.

What you will bring:

  • Attention to detail, well organised and ability to check large amounts of information against a range of metrics and deliver work to a high standard.
  • Excellent organisation skills, results orientated with the ability to work independently to deadlines and prioritise work as required.
  • Good basic IT skills to include MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work accurately at pace, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
  • Experience of delivering a high standard of customer service.
  • Ability to generate innovative, practical solutions to solve problems.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work remotely without supervision, while demonstrating strong team skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and experience building and managing trusted relationships with important stakeholders at all levels.
  • A can-do and collaborative mindset and a commitment to personal development.
