Construction General Laborer (Pre-Apprentice) - Field in Windsor

We’re hiring a Construction General Laborer / Pre-Apprentice to join our expanding team. No experience required. Training and tools are provided. This position comes with the ability to transition into our long-standing, highly regarded Apprenticeship Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting Sheet Metal Journeyman and Apprentices in daily job duties, both in shop and on jobsites.
• Performing some specialized tasks which may require on-the-job training.
• Effectively using heavy and light equipment.
• Assembling and fabricating flashing, panels, and ductwork.
• Measuring, cutting, and welding pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
• Cleaning and daily maintenance of shop and jobsite.
• Loading and gassing company trucks.
• Delivering product and tools to jobsite.
• Performing assigned work such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
• Connecting pieces or securing seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
• Assisting with building maintenance.
• Cutting, measuring, bending, and assembling sheet metal.
• Assisting in shop fabrication process and in the field installations at job sites.
• Performing other duties as assigned in order to keep up with company needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
• Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
• Attentive to detail and alert at all times.
• Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.
• Possess physical and mental aptitudes and capabilities that will enable them to do the essential functions of the job.
• Strong work ethic and attendance at all shifts and trainings.
• Possess ability to learn, problem-solve, independently assess situations, and respond appropriately and safely to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate, understand, give or follow written, verbal, or demonstrated instructions, write information, and request assistance.
• Ability to communicate well with all types of people external and internal consumers of services.
• Exceptional project management skills including the ability to create action plans and achieve the timeline.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma or HSED (required for Apprenticeship).
• Valid Drivers License.
• Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus.
• A detailed-oriented person who demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
