Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. has need for a senior level Estimator for our Winchester, VA office. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure successful bid submissions and project budgeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for all phases of construction.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry professionals.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
  • Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Maintain historical cost data and update estimating databases.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
  • Develop scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop detailed quantity take-offs and estimates for self-performed work.
  • Develop complete estimates for review by the Director of Preconstruction and VP of Operations.
  • Works independently as well as under the supervision of the Director of Preconstruction and senior estimator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
