Overall purpose

Reporting to the Planning Manager with responsibility for production planning of finished and semi-finished goods in the food industry and arranging inter-site stock replenishment. The Planner will build a strong working relationship with the supply chain team and production to control the smooth and cost-effective movement of materials and finished products.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that daily and weekly plans are determined and issued in a timely manner.
  • Securing of material substitutions where necessary.
  • Request for concessions where required.
  • Request for life extensions where required.
  • Request for raw materials where required.
  • Monthly capacity and labour analysis to highlight potential medium to long term constraints and suggest appropriate action.
  • Responsible for generating daily/weekly labour plans that optimise efficiency, minimise cost (yield loss) and satisfy customer demand, making sure all plans are agreed with shift managers.
  • On-going monitoring of finished goods and raw material stocks that targets zero write-off; where risks occur, dealing with all the relevant key stakeholders to minimise waste.
  • Ensuring factory part finished stock is in line with targets and any residual stock which is suitable for sale is highlighted.
  • Maintain the demand plan, and review and enter customer forecasts.
  • Closely working with Customer Service and Head of Supply Chain to ensure accurate forecasts are received and challenged where appropriate, working collaboratively to hone the forecast to an agreed accuracy making sure site systems are updated accordingly.
  • Ensure system data integrity for both bought in and manufactured goods including minimum order quantity, minimum stock levels, multiple order quantity, cases per hour, lead time. Conduct frequent reviews of master data.
  • Regular communication with Customer Services highlighting any potential service issues in the short and medium term, devising mitigation strategies where possible.
  • Agreeing, reviewing, and reporting regularly against key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for all stock management and replenishment of Ceva warehouse.
  • Compliance with and promotion of all employment, health and safety, data protection, food safety and quality as well as customer and trade standards.
  • Promote a strong customer service ethos within the company, working to exceed customer expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement through direct areas of responsibility and influence positive business change.
  • Operate as an effective member of the supply chain team to help one another push the boundaries of business performance.
