Westfalia is hiring! We are looking for a Welder to join our Production team. The Welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling components for conveying equipment using MIG and TIG welding techniques. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings to ensure high-quality welds.

Job Functions

  • Weld mild steel sheet metal and stainless steel (18 gauge to 1/2” plate).
  • Weld mild steel and stainless steel tubing, angle, and plate (1/8” to 6”).
  • Set up and operate MIG and TIG welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret drawings to properly fit components before welding.
  • Finish and polish weldments using grinders, belt sanders, flap wheels, and glass beading equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to operate shop equipment, including vertical milling machines, lathes, and cutting saws.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must provide personal hand tools necessary for daily tasks.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes (up to 5 tons).
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–3 years of welding experience.
  • Forklift operator training is a plus (training provided by Westfalia).

Work Environment

  • Primarily works in a manufacturing or fabrication shop environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear is required.
  • Work is performed around heavy equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and powered machinery.
  • May involve working in varying temperatures depending on season and shop conditions.
  • Fast-paced, hands-on environment requiring attention to safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, lifting, bending, and repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate other shop equipment.
  • Exposure to various weather conditions or work environments.
  • May require overtime, weekends, or shift work depending on company needs.

Travel Requirements

  • This position requires little to no travel (0-5%) outside of the standard commute.
