Senior Mechanical Engineer in WA1 in Warrington

Assystem is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work at our customer’s site in Warrington on a 12‑month contract (PAYE via Umbrella).

Responsibilities

• Understand product system/sub‑system requirements and derive component requirements at task level.
• Produce robust design solutions that are insensitive to variation and meet specified requirements.
• Collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
• Search for, capture, store, and re‑use knowledge related to design activity.
• Understand and apply commodity standards, and create new standards where none exist.
• Liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to integrate experience and knowledge from these areas.
• Check own and others’ design solutions and technical documentation for completeness and correctness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph D in Engineering or an equivalent qualification or proven technical capability.
• Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
• Ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.
• Knowledge and experience of product integrity, liability and justification processes.
• Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards membership.
• Experience as a design engineer across the product life cycle, including design safety justification supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and operational issues.
• Experience in research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
• Experience in developing methods, standards and processes.
