Assystem is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work at our customer’s site in Warrington on a 12‑month contract (PAYE via Umbrella).
Responsibilities
- Understand product system/sub‑system requirements and derive component requirements at task level.
- Produce robust design solutions that are insensitive to variation and meet specified requirements.
- Collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
- Search for, capture, store, and re‑use knowledge related to design activity.
- Understand and apply commodity standards, and create new standards where none exist.
- Liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to integrate experience and knowledge from these areas.
- Check own and others’ design solutions and technical documentation for completeness and correctness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph D in Engineering or an equivalent qualification or proven technical capability.
- Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
- Ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.
- Knowledge and experience of product integrity, liability and justification processes.
- Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards membership.
- Experience as a design engineer across the product life cycle, including design safety justification supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and operational issues.
- Experience in research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
- Experience in developing methods, standards and processes.
