An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Quality Control Engineer to support the delivery of complex engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. The role focuses on providing independent quality input across project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review enquiry, tender, and contract documentation in line with customer quality requirements.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and clients to define inspection and quality expectations.
  • Support engineering teams to ensure design deliverables incorporate quality control requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation (e.g. QCPs, WPS, NDT procedures).
  • Attend supplier kick-off meetings to communicate project quality expectations.
  • Develop and assign inspection scopes for Quality Inspectors.
  • Plan and execute inspection activities, including risk assessments prior to inspection, equipment inspections, witnessing NDT, FATs, and functional testing.
  • Review and endorse project documentation (e.g. NDT reports, weld records, EC&I test packs).
  • Manage inspection reporting and ensure timely completion.
  • Review Life Time Records (LTRs) and final documentation dossiers.
  • Support final release of equipment.
  • Provide advice on quality risks and support issue resolution.
  • Participate in project and handover meetings.
  • Support supplier assessments and audits.
  • Manage and close out non-conformances.
  • Contribute to project quality planning and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and procedures.

Experience & Background

  • Experience within nuclear, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong background in fabrication and welding processes.
  • NDT techniques.
  • Mechanical inspection.
  • Electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, and testing of engineered systems.
  • Experience reviewing material certification and technical documentation.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
  • HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • Welding inspection qualification such as CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 (WI).
  • Auditor training (desirable).
