This is an opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading contractors on multi-million pound water projects across the North West Region. This is a long‑term, stable opportunity within a business known for high-quality delivery, strong safety culture, and promoting from within.
Role Overview
As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for mechanical package delivery and technical governance, along with managing the mechanical package delivery strategy for the framework. You will manage site surveys of existing mechanical equipment handover to project MEICA delivery engineering team. Implementation of standard procurement specific requirements in relation to manufacture, off‑site testing, delivery and installation are incorporated within mechanical packages. You will ensure delivery teams are implementing deployed frameworks and collaborate with design, estimating, civils, and commercial functions to support overall effective delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Input to design solution at survey and concept stages.
- Produce mechanical enquiry packages based on design documentation.
- Organise decommissioning or relocation of existing mechanical equipment.
- Define standard products and technical solutions for deployment across the programme.
- Incorporate standard procurement‑specific requirements for manufacture, off‑site testing, delivery, and installation within mechanical packages.
- Guide design teams towards standardisation of solutions across the programme.
- Manage key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure production and delivery timescales.
- Liaise with the client mechanical lead.
- Review and sign‑off mechanical elements of condition survey report.
- Conduct on‑site and off‑site inspection and testing, including documentation, procedures and critical function witness testing (FAT & SAT, string tests, etc.).
