Job Description The Opportunity The projects an estimator gets to price say a lot about a business, and this one is worth a look on that basis alone.

Our client, a M&E contractor operating from their Warrington base, works across a portfolio that runs well beyond the standard commercial and residential fare: healthcare, education and commercial sit alongside heritage, luxury hospitality, defence and custodial environments.

For an Electrical Estimator, that means genuinely varied, technically demanding work rather than pricing the same type of scheme on repeat.

This is a permanent Electrical Estimator role within an established, properly resourced pre-construction function that reports into a dedicated Pre-Construction Director.

You would take ownership of electrical tenders from receipt of enquiry through to submission, working closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to produce accurate, competitive and technically robust bids.

Salary is £60,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.

About the Business Our client is a M&E building services contractor with roots going back to the late 1950s and offices across England, Scotland and Ireland.

They have grown steadily into a business with an annual turnover exceeding £50 million, more than 100 directly employed staff and a supply chain of over 1,000 approved suppliers and subcontractors, which gives an estimator a strong, well-developed base to price from.

Their sector breadth is genuinely unusual, and it is what makes the estimating work here more interesting than most.

Pricing electrical packages across heritage buildings, custodial and defence environments and complex healthcare estates requires a level of technical rigour and familiarity with specialist specifications that a standard commercial portfolio simply does not demand.

Accreditations include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, NICEIC, BESA, ECA and Constructionline, alongside a robust Zero Harm health and safety programme.

The pre-construction function is well structured, with senior director-level leadership and the supply chain depth to support properly substantiated bids from day one.

  • What You\'ll Be Doing
  • Taking ownership of electrical tenders from receipt of enquiry through to submission
  • Carrying out take-offs and measurement from drawings and specifications to produce detailed, accurate cost build-ups
  • Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to produce competitive and properly substantiated pricing
  • Identifying value engineering opportunities and contributing to buildability reviews during the tender process
  • Working closely with design, commercial and delivery teams to ensure technical and commercial alignment on submissions
  • Pricing electrical packages across a varied mix of sectors, including specialist and operationally sensitive environments
  • Reviewing contract terms and flagging commercial risks ahead of submission
  • Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover to the delivery team on secured projects
  • What We\'re Looking For
  • A solid electrical estimating background within an M&E or electrical contracting environment
  • Confident leading electrical tenders independently, from enquiry through to submission
  • Experience pricing across a variety of sectors and contract types, including specialist or operationally sensitive projects, is advantageous
  • Proficient in take-off and measurement, with strong attention to technical and commercial accuracy
  • Sound knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contract forms
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable engaging with suppliers, design teams and internal stakeholders
  • Relevant electrical qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • What\'s on Offer
  • £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience
  • Full company benefits package
  • A prestigious, technically varied project portfolio spanning sectors most electrical estimators do not regularly encounter
  • A properly resourced pre-construction function with dedicated director-level leadership
  • The backing of a long-established M&E contractor with genuine scale and a deep supply chain
