Our client is a North East operational business, headquartered near Newcastle, with a very strong focus on safe, efficient working practices across its multiple operational activities. They are continuing to invest in their people and I am very pleased to be supporting them in their search for an Operational Risk & Safety Advisor role, which is a newly created role to strengthen their approach to operational risk.

This is a newly created operational risk position, focused on practical risk assessment and advisory support, rather than ownership of management systems or ISO frameworks. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will:

  • Carry out operational risk assessments across equipment, processes and working practices
  • Review and improve method statements and critical safety documentation
  • Support investigations into incidents, near misses or failures, including root cause analysis
  • Engage directly with operational teams to ensure risk controls are understood and applied

The role involves planned multi-site engagement and offers some great flexibility, with full-time or 3–4 days per week considered.

You will be a practical, approachable risk focussed professional with experience in operational or engineering-led environments. You will bring:

  • Strong experience producing and reviewing risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Exposure to investigations and incident reviews across assets and equipment
  • Strong engagement and communication skills
  • Experience of workshops or maintenance environments is helpful but not essential — broader operational experience is equally relevant
  • Hold a full UK driving license
