We are working with a well-established and growing Mechanical & Building Services contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced AutoCAD Technician to support a busy pipeline of commercial projects. This is a great opportunity for a skilled AutoCAD Technician who enjoys being hands-on with real construction delivery — producing accurate, buildable mechanical drawings that directly support site installation teams. You’ll be joining a practical, project-driven environment where your drawings actually get built, not just filed away.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Producing detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for mechanical building services including:
    • Domestic hot & cold water systems
    • Above ground drainage
    • HVAC systems (ventilation, ductwork, heating)
  • Creating and updating as-fitted / as-built drawings for O&M manuals
  • Interpreting M&E drawings, specifications and site information
  • Working closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors to ensure design accuracy
  • Updating drawings based on site progress, client feedback and value engineering changes
  • Supporting with material take-offs and schedules where required
  • Maintaining drawing registers and document control systems
  • Attending site when needed to carry out surveys and verify installations

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience as an AutoCAD Technician within M&E / Building Services
  • Strong ability to produce mechanical installation drawings in AutoCAD
  • Good understanding of:
    • Pipework systems (hot & cold water, drainage)
    • HVAC / ventilation layouts
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong awareness of UK Building Regulations and practical installation methods
  • Detail-focused with a practical, buildable approach to design work
  • Comfortable managing workload across multiple live projects

What’s on offer:

  • Up to £40,000 DOE
  • 40-hour week with flexible start and finish times (8am–5pm window)
  • Minimal travel – occasional site visits only when required
  • Genuine involvement in live project delivery, not just office-based drafting
  • Strong pipeline of mechanical building services work
  • Supportive, experienced team environment
