About the Role:
Join L. W. Tank Repair Inc. as a Welder / Fabricator specializing in trailer and tank repair! If you have experience with MIG, TIG, or Stick welding and enjoy working on trailers, tanks, and heavy equipment, this is a great opportunity to build a long-term career in a fast-paced shop environment.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Perform welding and fabrication on trailers, cargo tanks, and related equipment using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Inspect and assess damaged tanks, trailers, and components to determine repair needs and solutions.
- Assist with and develop methods to refurbish equipment (including antique and vintage equipment) fabricating replacement equipment when OEM components are not available.
- Repair and rebuild frames, tank components, piping, and structural parts.
- Cut, fit, and assemble metal components (steel, stainless steel, aluminum).
- Operate fabrication equipment including torches, plasma cutters, grinders, press brakes, shears, ironworkers, and welding machines.
- Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and repair specifications.
- Assist with light mechanical work as needed (pumps, PTOs, hydraulics).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Document repair processes and maintain accurate work records.
- Communicate with team members regarding repair options, timelines, and progress.
- Assist in training and mentoring new team members as needed.
What We’re Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding.
- Minimum 2+ years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding required.
- Ability to work with steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Experience operating fabrication equipment (press brake, shear, ironworker, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety practices and procedures.
- Mechanical experience with trailers, tanks, or heavy equipment is a plus.
- Proficient with common shop tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Must have basic hand tools (or willingness to acquire them).
- Welding certifications (e.g., AWS) are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Lift 50–65 lbs as needed.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tight spaces.
- Able to work in shop conditions (heat, cold, noise, fumes).
