Job Title: Lead Engineer Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire Salary: £53,000 Shift: Monday to Friday – Days Only

We are looking for an experienced engineer to lead our manufacturing engineering team while remaining hands‑on.

The Lead Engineer will oversee day‑to‑day engineering operations, ensure maximum equipment reliability, support the team in delivering planned and reactive maintenance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to minimise production downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily engineering operations and maximise equipment reliability.
  • Support the engineering team in planning and executing preventive and reactive maintenance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering standards and reduce production downtime.
  • Mentor and develop team members, maintaining a hands‑on presence on the shop floor.
  • Key Requirements
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
  • Multi‑skilled engineering background (electrical and mechanical).
  • Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring engineering teams.
  • Strong background in planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault‑finding experience.
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering qualification.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and engineering performance.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous leadership role such as Lead Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, or Team Leader.
  • PLC fault‑finding experience (inputs and outputs).
  • Experience in food manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems.
  • Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing experience.
