Job DescriptionA well-established and rapidly growing main contractor based in Stevenage is looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their operational team. The company delivers a range of refurbishment, fit-out, industrial, commercial and education projects across the South East, with a growing order book and strong pipeline of work. This is an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager looking to join a progressive contractor and take responsibility for the successful delivery of multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
- Managing multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion
- Overall responsibility for programme, quality, health & safety and commercial performance
- Managing and supporting Project Managers and site teams
- Reviewing project programmes and ensuring key milestones are achieved
- Managing client and consultant relationships
- Overseeing subcontractors and supply chain performance
- Attending progress meetings and providing regular project updates
- Monitoring project costs and working closely with the commercial team
- Managing variations, contractual issues and potential risks
- Ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality standards
- Supporting the pre-construction and procurement process
- Identifying and managing project risks and opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures, health & safety requirements and relevant legislation
- Assisting with the successful handover and completion of projects
The Position
- Previous experience as a Contracts Manager with a main contractor
- Strong experience within refurbishment, fit-out, commercial, industrial or education projects
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, programmes and contract management
- Excellent client and subcontractor management skills
- Strong commercial awareness
- Good understanding of health & safety and quality requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to lead project teams and drive projects through to successful completion
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience + package
