We are recruiting for a Reliability Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing organisation in the North West. This is a key role focused on improving plant performance, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across production and utility assets. You'll play a pivotal role in developing and embedding reliability strategies, working cross‑functionally with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to optimise asset performance and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Reliability & Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and implement reliability‑centred maintenance (RCM) strategies
    • Analyse equipment failures and downtime trends to identify improvement opportunities
    • Lead reliability and continuous improvement projects
    • Implement preventive (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programmes
    • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA/RCFA) investigations
    • Deliver Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
    • Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
    • Analyse maintenance KPIs and generate performance reports
  • Asset & Maintenance Management
    • Develop and maintain the site asset register within the CMMS
    • Perform equipment criticality assessments to prioritise maintenance activity
    • Improve maintenance planning, scheduling, and spare parts strategies
    • Support condition monitoring activities (e.g. vibration, thermography, ultrasound)
  • Collaboration & Safety
    • Work closely with engineering, operations, stores, and HSE teams
    • Support safe working practices and risk assessments
    • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Qualifications

We’re looking for an analytical and proactive engineer with a strong background in manufacturing environments. You will ideally have:

  • Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in a reliability, maintenance, or asset‑focused role
  • Strong knowledge of RCA/RCFA methodologies, FMECA/FMEAPreventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Experience using CMMS and analysing maintenance data
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques (vibration, thermography, etc.)
  • Experience in processing or heavy manufacturing industries
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills
