About the Role

They are looking to appoint a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of experienced engineers working on performance‑critical systems. This role sits at the intersection of software and hardware, focusing on real‑time, high-throughput applications. You will work closely with technical leads who own the engineering direction, while you focus on team leadership, delivery and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of high‑calibre software engineers
  • Drive software engineering methodologies, processes and best practices
  • Support the delivery of complex, performance‑critical software across the full lifecycle
  • Work closely with technical leads, customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Ensure high standards in software design, testing and delivery

Requirements

  • Experience leading software engineering teams in a technical environment
  • Background in embedded software, systems software, or high-performance computing
  • Strong understanding of real‑time or performance‑critical systems
  • Experience with software development lifecycles, CI/CD and agile environments
  • Ability to translate complex problems into structured delivery plans
  • Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in wireless communications (e.g. 5G, LTE, PHY) is beneficial but not essential.
