The Company:

Based in Marchwood, Southampton, Stanelco RF Technologies is a division of Biome Technologies plc. Stanelco’s small, multidisciplinary team specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke engineering solutions for a wide range of industries utilising induction heating and dielectric welding systems. With a strong focus on high‑frequency RF technologies, projects typically range from £50k to £500k+ and include RF heating systems, electrical and electronic control systems, and integrated mechanical handling solutions for the Medical, Industrial and Nuclear sectors. Delivery timelines vary from 3 to 12 months, covering the full process from project acquisition through to commissioning and compliance.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the successful candidate will operate as a key member of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team, delivering technically robust, safe, and compliant solutions to Stanelco’s global customer base. You will act as the technical authority for electrical and electronic aspects of projects, working with cross‑functional teams to define architectures, requirements, and specifications. Prior experience in RF design is not a prerequisite for this role. The company has deep internal expertise in this area and is committed to supporting the successful candidate in developing RF knowledge and design capability over time. The role includes periodic UK and international travel to commission new systems and support existing installations.

Why Join Stanelco:

  • Work on complex bespoke engineering systems, not volume products
  • Join a highly experienced multidisciplinary team in a technically collaborative environment
  • Opportunity to develop RF and high‑frequency power expertise within a supportive team

Candidate Profile:

Given the size and nature of the business, this role offers some flexibility and can be tailored to the skills and experience of the successful candidate. We welcome applications from experienced Engineers/Senior Engineers/Lead Engineers who can provide authoritative leadership across electrical and electronic design, safety, and compliance. Ideally, you will be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, with several years’ demonstrable experience in the development of industrial or process‑based equipment. You will be a natural problem‑solver, comfortable operating in a hands‑on, project‑driven engineering environment.

Key Design Responsibilities:

  • Play an instrumental role in the design, development, manufacture, and support of industrial RF and electro‑mechanical process equipment.
  • Lead electrical team technical activities and ensure rigorous delivery to project requirements.
  • Lead electrical and electronic design activities through concept, development, verification, and release.
  • Drive innovation by troubleshooting existing products, optimising designs, and evaluating new technologies for future product development.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Stanelco’s electro‑mechanical product range to support technical discussions with customers and stakeholders.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Electrical and electronic systems engineering, including power conversion, transformers, switches, converters, SMPS.
  • Electrical and electronic system architecture and requirements definition.
  • Industrial automation, electronic control systems, and industrial software.
  • Understanding of thermal management systems and materials considerations in industrial equipment.

Additional Skills & Experience (Advantageous):

  • Control panel design (PLC, HMI, SCADA).
  • Exposure to RF Systems, power electronics, induction heating, or dielectric welding.
  • Experience acting as a technical authority and developing junior engineers.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.

Compliance, Safety & Standards:

Own or contribute significantly to CE marking activities related to electrical and electronic design. Interpret and apply relevant standards (e.g. Low Voltage Directive, EMC, harmonised standards) - safety, design review & technical documentation.

Project & Commercial Support:

Support new business proposals at quotation and negotiation stages, providing technical input and risk assessment. Work closely with the Head of Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Team to ensure alignment and integrated product delivery. Oversee UK and global commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities for new and existing equipment.

The Opportunity:

This is a rare opportunity to play a critical technical role within a highly specialised engineering company with a global reach, influencing technical direction, product safety and compliance, and long‑term engineering capability while working on challenging, bespoke solutions. Importantly, the role also offers the opportunity to develop expertise in RF technologies within a supportive and collaborative engineering environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

A competitive base salary, commensurate with experience, plus an attractive benefits package.
