Job Description
Service Engineer – Workshop based, Charlbury, Oxfordshire.
Monday to Thursday 08:30 – 17:00, Friday 08:30 – 16:00 (37.5 hours). The role requires hands‑on mechanical engineering work and offers long‑term stability, regular pay reviews and genuine development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild mechanical components and systems.
- Fault‑find and carry out repairs on customer equipment.
- Perform functional testing of serviced and repaired equipment.
- Prepare hire equipment and conduct checks before dispatch.
- Complete inspection reports and service paperwork accurately.
- Maintain workshop standards, tools, stock and test equipment.
Qualifications
- Mechanical engineering or workshop background.
- Strong fault‑finding and hands‑on mechanical repair experience.
- Experience in a service, maintenance or repair environment.
- Good communication and report‑writing skills.
- Practical, team‑focused approach with good attention to detail.
- Hydraulics or fluid‑power experience is an advantage.
