An experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to take full commercial responsibility for multiple commercial groundworks and civil engineering projects. Based from the Solihull office, the role will involve regular site visits and travel across the Midlands. You will work closely with operational teams and senior leadership to ensure robust commercial control, maximise profitability, and manage risk across a portfolio of active schemes. This is a key role within the commercial team, offering autonomy, variety, and clear progression within a fast‑growing contractor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full commercial management of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects
  • Preparation of CVRs, cost reporting, and monthly forecasting
  • Management of subcontract procurement and subcontract accounts, valuations, applications for payment, and interim accounts
  • Variations management and agreement with clients/subcontractors, preparation and agreement of final accounts
  • Commercial support to operational delivery teams
  • Identification and mitigation of commercial and contractual risk
  • Attendance at client and site progress meetings
  • Maintaining and developing strong client relationships
  • Supporting junior members of the commercial team where required
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within commercial groundworks or civil engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract administration skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and reporting ability
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel across regional project sites
Desirable:
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • Experience within residential infrastructure, roads & sewers, and external works packages
  • Background working for a specialist groundworks contractor
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior QS staff
