We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Area 10 Highways account. This role will involve travel across the Northwest network and collaboration with teams delivering key infrastructure schemes. At Amey, we work in partnership with Highways to keep the country moving safely and efficiently. Our Highways business maintains and improves road networks across Areas 7, 10 & 12, ensuring safer, more reliable journeys for road users.
You will play a key role in managing commercial performance under the NEC TSC contract, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards. This is a critical role where you will lead commercial activities across schemes, working closely with operational teams, clients, and supply chain partners to drive value, manage risk and support successful project delivery. The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
What you’ll do:
- Commercial Leadership – Leading commercial management of highways schemes from inception through to completion
- Cost Management – Delivering accurate estimating, cost forecasting, cash flow management and CVR reporting
- Contract Management – Managing NEC4 processes including early warnings, compensation events and change control
- Team Leadership – Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
- Valuations & Accounts – Managing valuations, variations and final account settlements with clients and supply chain
- Procurement & Supply Chain – Supporting tendering, negotiation and subcontract management activities
- Performance Management – Monitoring project performance to ensure value, efficiency and effective risk management
- Stakeholder Collaboration – Working closely with Highways, internal teams and supply chain partners
- Governance & Compliance – Ensuring adherence to Amey financial procedures, governance and HSEQ standards

What You’ll Bring:
- Strong knowledge of NEC contract management (NEC3 / NEC4)
- Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure
- Experience managing commercial activities across full project lifecycles
- Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting, change management and contract compliance
- Ability to manage stakeholders across client, internal teams and supply chain
- Strong commercial awareness and problem‑solving capability
