Overview Based in Cambridge, the global organization with offices around the world is looking to recruit a Photonics Lead and a Junior Photonics Engineer.
The roles involve photonic integrated circuits, nano‑ and micro‑fabricated optics, nonlinear systems, quantum photonics, and optical design using tools such as Zemax.
Responsibilities Specification, design, fabrication/test, and validation of complex PICs or photonic systems.
Hands‑on photonic design/simulation (Lumerical, Ansys, Synopsys, or equivalent) and PIC layout (Synopsys, Luceda, Nazca).
Engagement with the photonics ecosystem (fabs, packaging, test).
Deep knowledge of PIC platforms (Si Ph, Si N, In P), integration methods and test strategies.
Proven ability to lead engineers, make technical trade‑offs and collaborate across disciplines.
Commercial competence and client engagement, as speaking with clients will be part of the role.
Qualifications Ph D in Physics, Electronics, or semiconductor‑related technologies.
Desired Skills Experience in photonic/optical compute technologies.
Experience in high‑speed PICs for data communications.
Experience in free‑space optical communication.
