We are seeking a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes across the North West of England. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a long-term capital investment programme focused on improving environmental outcomes, upgrading treatment facilities, and reducing storm overflows. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects from early feasibility through to detailed design, while providing technical leadership and guidance in hydraulic engineering.
The Role
- Deliver hydraulic engineering solutions across feasibility, outline, and detailed design stages
- Produce and review hydraulic calculations, models (including HADES), specifications, drawings, and reports
- Provide technical leadership and ensure hydraulic best practice is embedded across designs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support efficient and coordinated project delivery
- Engage with clients and stakeholders, building strong working relationships
- Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to their professional development
- Undertake quality assurance through checking and reviewing technical outputs
- Work closely with construction teams and supply chain partners to develop practical, safe, and buildable solutions
About You
- A degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered, Incorporated, or working towards professional accreditation (e.g. ICE, IMechE, CIWEM)
- Proven experience in the water/wastewater sector, including design and project delivery
- Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic calculations and modelling for infrastructure and/or non-infrastructure projects
- Experience using HADES (or similar hydraulic modelling software)
- Ability to communicate complex hydraulic concepts clearly to non-specialists
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to high-quality delivery
