The Opportunity:
Cast UK are recruiting for a growing technology refurbishment business that specialises in extending the life of consumer electronics through repair, refurbishment, testing, grading and re-commerce. Operating at the forefront of sustainable technology and device lifecycle management, the business processes thousands of smartphones, laptops, tablets and other electronic devices each year. As demand continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Technical Operations Manager to lead and develop a high performing operational team. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strong operational management experience and a solid technical understanding of electronic device repair and refurbishment.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for leading a team of up to 45 associates across processing, repair, grading and refurbishment functions. You will ensure daily operational priorities are aligned, productivity targets are achieved, quality standards are maintained and technical challenges are resolved quickly and effectively. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, supporting teams directly, removing barriers to performance and providing technical guidance where required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and develop a team of up to 45 operational associates.
- Plan and prioritise daily workloads to ensure operational targets are achieved.
- Oversee the processing, testing, grading, repair and refurbishment of electronic devices.
- Ensure quality standards are consistently maintained across all departments.
- Support technicians and processing teams with technical troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, coaching sessions and team development activities.
- Drive operational efficiency, continuous improvement and process optimisation.
- Manage workload allocation across repair, regrade, harvest and processing functions.
- Resolve operational and technical issues that impact productivity or quality.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support growth plans and operational expansion.
About You:
We are looking for an operational leader who combines people management skills with genuine technical expertise in consumer electronics.
Essential Experience:
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Technical Operations Manager, Processing Manager or similar leadership position.
- Strong knowledge of smartphone and laptop hardware.
- Hands-on experience repairing, refurbishing or diagnosing electronic devices.
- Ability to support engineers and technicians with technical issues.
- Understanding of SSDs, hard drives, memory components and device architecture.
- Experience using repair equipment and tools, including heat plates and device disassembly techniques.
- Experience working within electronics refurbishment, reverse logistics, IT asset disposition (ITAD), repair centres or re-commerce operations.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Highly Desirable Backgrounds:
- Consumer electronics refurbishment
