A rapidly growing, highly respected engineering organisation within the commercial & industrial heating / HVAC hire sector is seeking a Specialist Engineer to join their Midlands operation.
This is a hands‑on, varied and fast‑paced role supporting critical customer sites with temporary boiler and heating solutions across the region.
This is NOT a planned maintenance role – we are looking for an engineer who thrives in a reactive, fast‑response hire environment, where no two days are the same.
The Role
You will be responsible for installation, commissioning, servicing, fault‑finding and breakdown response on commercial temporary heating and boiler systems, both depot‑based and on customer sites across the Midlands.
Systems typically range from 600k W to 2MW (Gas & Oil) and include forced draft burner technology and associated control systems.
- Installation & commissioning of temporary boiler / heating equipment
- Service, maintenance & reactive breakdown response
- Working with forced draft burners & commercial boiler systems
- Fault finding on mechanical, combustion and control systems
- Working with BMS / control wiring
- Modifying plant room pipework and system integration
- Supporting complex installs (occasionally requiring 1–2 nights away)
- Working both on‑site and depot‑based when not attending jobs
This is a field‑focused role with variety, autonomy and responsibility.
- What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience with forced draft burners & commercial boiler systems
- Experience working on 600k W – 2MW gas / oil systems
- Background in commercial / industrial – NOT domestic
- Experience in a reactive / hire / breakdown environment (key requirement)
- BMS / controls / combustion understanding
- Strong mechanical fault‑finding ability
- Flexible, hands‑on and comfortable working in varying conditions
- Team‑focused, proactive and safety‑driven
You must understand the nature of this role — some days involve long hours, travel, weather exposure and complex installations.
Qualifications
- Commercial Gas Safe
- OFTEC / Oil (desirable)
- F‑Gas (advantageous)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- (DBS checks may be required for certain sites)
