We are seeking a Buyer Planner to support a fast-paced manufacturing operation by coordinating purchasing, production scheduling, inventory control, and supplier relationships. This role is responsible for ensuring materials are available when needed, maintaining inventory accuracy, and helping production teams meet customer delivery expectations. The ideal candidate has experience working in a manufacturing environment, understands ERP/MRP systems, and enjoys balancing supplier management, inventory planning, and production scheduling responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Scheduling
    • Create and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity.
    • Coordinate with operations teams to prioritise production activities and optimise workflow.
    • Monitor schedule performance and adjust plans as business demands change.
    • Identify material shortages, capacity constraints, and production bottlenecks before they impact operations.
  • Purchasing & Supplier Management
    • Purchase raw materials, components, and production-related supplies.
    • Generate and manage purchase orders through the ERP/MRP system.
    • Track supplier delivery performance and expedite critical materials when necessary.
    • Work closely with vendors to maintain reliable supply and resolve delivery issues.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management
    • Monitor inventory levels and maintain appropriate stocking strategies.
    • Analyse material consumption trends and forecast future requirements.
    • Support cycle count activities and inventory accuracy initiatives.
    • Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Sales teams to support operational goals.
    • Assist with new product launches and material planning requirements.
    • Communicate supply chain risks and recovery plans to leadership.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning, purchasing, and inventory processes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, production planning, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency using ERP/MRP systems for purchasing and planning activities.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and material availability.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement training.
  • Experience supporting demand forecasting and material requirements planning (MRP).
