Our client is a well-established manufacturer based in the North East, designing and producing complex, high-reliability products used in safety-critical and regulated environments. The business operates globally and works across a diverse mix of markets, including defence, industrial and emerging technology applications.

The organisation is experiencing sustained growth, investing heavily in new facilities, people and product development. Historically engineering-led, the business has made a deliberate shift towards stronger project governance and delivery, creating a collaborative, empowered projects function that plays a central role in commercial success. The culture is open, hands-on and people-focused, with a strong track record of developing talent internally and supporting long-term careers.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing projects team as a Project Manager, delivering a varied portfolio of engineering-led projects from initial concept through to production and customer delivery. You will manage multiple projects concurrently, including both internally funded new product introductions and externally funded, customer-specific development programmes. Projects vary significantly in size, complexity and duration, providing genuine variety and exposure across the full product lifecycle.

Working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams, you will take ownership for planning, governance, risk, budget and stakeholder management. For customer-funded projects, you will act as the primary point of contact, managing expectations and ensuring delivery against time, cost and quality commitments.

This role suits someone who enjoys being close to the detail, building strong relationships and seeing projects through to completion in a practical, delivery-focused environment. The business offers a hybrid working model, with regular on-site collaboration viewed as key to project success.

You will be a Project Manager or Project Engineer ready to step up, with experience in an engineering, manufacturing or technology-led environment. Rather than a rigid background, our client is focused on attitude, behaviours and potential.

Key requirements include:

  • Experience delivering projects in an engineering or manufacturing setting
  • Exposure to new product introduction (NPI), design-led development and/or introduction to manufacture
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence across multiple functions without direct authority
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with the resilience and tenacity to drive long-running projects to completion
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable engaging with shop-floor teams, senior leadership, suppliers and customers
  • Formal project management qualification (or a clear aspiration to achieve one), with full support provided for development

You will thrive in a collaborative, open environment where projects are still evolving, and where success is built on trust, relationships and delivery rather than bureaucracy.

If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your project management career, gain exposure to complex engineering programmes and be part of a growing North East manufacturer with ambitious long-term plans, we’d love to hear from you.
