World Wide Technology (WWT) is a global technology integrator and supply chain solutions provider. Through our culture of innovation, we inspire, build, and deliver business results, from idea to outcome.
WWT is looking for an experienced Programme Director - Automation who will partner with clients, internal development teams, delivery leads, engagement managers, business analysts, and engineers to shape and execute best-in-class automation solutions. The ideal candidate will ensure our teams deliver customer-first service on compelling new offerings, identify where capabilities need refinement, and drive outcomes that both clients and WWT can measure.
This is a contract role & inside IR35.
Contract Duration: 6 months contract
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid with 2-3 days onsite per week)
Responsibilities
- Incubate, launch, and scale new automation capabilities
- Partner with delivery to create durable value
- Grow the offering and deepen client relationships
- Lead teams that exceed expectations
- Identify and pursue value
- Scale offerings vertically and horizontally
A strong Program Director does not just deliver; they set the standard for how the practice delivers. The best practices below are what we expect to see you champion on every engagement.
- Outcomes before outputs. You measure success by client business outcomes: adoption rate, time-to-value, reduction in manual effort, not by artifacts produced or tickets closed.
- Structured incubation discipline. New capabilities move through deliberate stages: pilot, refine, productize, scale, with explicit entry and exit criteria at each stage. You do not ship a pilot as a product.
- Commercial fluency. You understand P&L, project financials, and commercial levers. Scope, schedule, and margin trade-offs are decisions you make with full awareness, not accidents.
- Transparent, structured communication. RAID logs, weekly status, clear escalation paths. Red is surfaced early, not discovered late. Stakeholders hear the hard news from you, not around you.
- Agile at the program level. You apply Agile practices across multiple teams: sprint cadences, backlog prioritization, end-of-sprint demos, while preserving the executive reporting discipline clients expect.
- Build for the handover. You design every engagement so the client can operate, extend, and scale the automation after WWT steps back. An automation program that cannot survive your departure is not complete.
- Durable IP capture. Every engagement contributes to the practice library: reference architecture, estimation baselines, delivery frameworks, lessons learned. The next program starts further ahead because this one ran well.
- AI Tool Usage. Leverage AI tools to expedite job function.
Experience
- 5 to 8+ years as a Program Director or client‑facing consultant at the Manager or Senior Manager level
- Proven track record of piloting new offerings and capabilities on complex client programs
- Experience leading Agile delivery across multiple teams, at program scale, not just sprint scale
- Experience with project financials and P&L ownership or influence
- Corporate leadership experience across multiple verticals. The breadth matters
Candidates will be required to go through background checks before commencing contract. Must be eligible to live and work in the specified work location. Some occasional travel may be required. Only successful candidates will be contacted.
Equal Opportunities
World Wide Technology is committed to equal opportunities and actively seeks applications from all sectors of the community irrespective of marital status, having responsibility for dependents, beliefs, or any other reason which cannot be shown to be justified.
