Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Production Technologist based in Aberdeen. This is a PAYE contractor position with a North Sea operator.
Role overview
Responsible for the Petroleum Engineering deliverables across the company’s Operated Late Life Asset Portfolio including well integrity management throughout the operate stages of the well lifecycle.
Key tasks / responsibilities
- The Asset PT is responsible for managing the health of platform and subsea well stock across the two assets as part of a multidisciplinary surveillance team, including well performance analysis using the PETEX suite of tools to ensure the system is optimised and operating to its full potential.
- The PT shall identify and drive the delivery of value adding well intervention activities and hydrocarbon maturation capital projects. This includes ownership and management of technical and non-technical risks.
- Supporting the Senior Production Technologist, the Asset PT is responsible for managing well integrity throughout the operate stage of the well lifecycle.
- The PT will be responsible for assessing Well Integrity Test results against Company Performance Standards and raising failures through competence with the Company Well Failure Model.
- Subsequently, the PT is responsible for owning the maturation process to remediate well integrity issues (both trees and in-well issues) by integrating a multi-disciplinary team to deliver projects.
- Wells from these assets are mostly gas lifted and produce from unconsolidated sandstone reservoirs.
- The PT is accountable for ensuring gas lift systems are optimised effectively (both platform and subsea fields) and for managing the end-to-end (reservoir to export) sand control strategy on behalf of the asset.
- PT is responsible for Petroleum Engineering compliance with Company Design & Engineering Practices and responsible for the implementation of the Company HSE Standards & Policies.
Technical Skills
- University degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
- Candidate should be self-sufficient and carry significant experience.
- Must have the ability to analyse data, assess subsurface risks and uncertainties.
- Deep well integrity experience (dry/wet trees and in-well issues).
- Experience in petroleum engineering tasks to manage operated wells (inflow/outflow modelling, well performance analysis).
- Demonstrated experience of different well intervention activity types with ability to raise Well Activity Proposal documents with subsurface inputs.
- Experience in well integrity interventions (ie completion workovers, subsurface valve replacements, additional perforation design).
- Experience in sand management, sand control and sand prediction tools.
- Understanding and exposure to decommissioning activities is desirable.
- New well completion selection and design (including gas lift) is an advantage.
Behavioural Skills
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team and in close co-operation with colleagues within the asset, wells and development communities.
- Effective integration with others, building and maintaining high quality relationships in a lean and dynamic team, in addition to high quality stakeholder management is an essential component of this role.
- Experience of behaving with a curious and problem-solving mindset is required in a late life context to challenge the status-quo and look to implement simplified and efficient work practices and technology to safely maximise value from existing wells.
