Astute is exclusively partnering with one of the leaders in industrial cleaning and shockwave solutions within the Power sector to recruit a Trainee Field Technician/Blasting Operative to join their growing team in Portsmouth. This role comes with a starting salary of £32,100 and an expected OTE of £40,000. It will be based out of Portsmouth, but requires extensive travel throughout the UK, 5‑6 days a week, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Join a team of Blasting Operatives and Engineers working across the UK's power sector to provide key industrial cleaning and shockwave solutions within Power Stations and Energy from Waste centres throughout the UK.
  • Use key cleaning technologies to improve the efficiency of power stations and process facilities, including controlled detonative charges used in power station boilers to dislodge corrosive build‑up on pipework.
  • Be responsible for the safe and efficient transport and usage of explosives, working in a close team to deliver timely and responsive cleaning services across the UK.
  • Support extensive travel, including weekends, as required.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Experience of working in a 'hands‑on' position, ideally within a hazardous or industrial environment (not required).
  • A full clean UK driving licence is essential.
  • Understanding of mechanical maintenance, with relevant qualifications beneficial.
  • Flexible approach to working; happy to stay away from home 5‑6 days per week.
  • Proactive, can‑do attitude.
  • Willing to travel across the UK.
