Responsibilities:
- System Design and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate electrical systems into the overall design. Design and layout electrical systems, encompassing power distribution, wiring harnesses, connectors, control modules, and charging systems. Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Prototyping and Testing: Work closely with testing teams to conduct functional, performance, and safety tests on electrical systems. Diagnose and resolve any issues that arise during testing phases.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop detailed documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports related to electrical design. Effectively communicate design concepts and findings to team members, management, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years of industry experience with an apprenticeship qualification.
- Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).
- Experience with 3D CAD systems (e.g., Inventor) is advantageous but not essential.
- Familiarity with CAN Bus systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in preparing and submitting detailed design specifications for high-value projects.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and committed to excellence.
- Willingness to embrace innovation and creativity; lateral thinking is encouraged.
- Experience in testing and commissioning electrical systems.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, or flexibility such as 7.30am – 4pm. Site based work, can work all 40 hours in 4 days on site and have a long weekend. No remote working. Candidates must be able to obtain BPSS clearance and should have the right to work in the UK.
