About the Role

Southern Housing is looking for a skilled Electrician to join our Direct Services team, delivering a high-quality, focused repairs and maintenance service. You’ll play a key role in reactive repairs, inspections, and compliance work across occupied and void properties, helping ensure our homes are safe and well-maintained. You’ll work as part of a dedicated team but will be trusted to manage your own workload efficiently, always aiming for a first-time fix and excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, inspections, testing and surveys in line with regulations and safety standards.
  • Complete work orders and reports accurately using mobile systems.
  • Deliver works within agreed response times and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, minimising repeat visits.
  • Support emergency call-out services via a fair rota system.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, including those who may be vulnerable.
  • Support team colleagues, including mentoring when required.
  • Ensure tools, stock, and company vehicles are maintained safely and responsibly.
  • Promote health & safety, compliance, equality, and Southern Housing’s HEART values.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance or installation within housing or a similar environment.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) with AM2 / AM2E, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. 2391 or 2395).
  • Strong working knowledge of building regulations, NICEIC standards and health & safety legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Excellent communication and customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours and emergency rotas.
  • Full UK driving licence.
