Our client is a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor operating across the South Coast. They specialise in delivering groundworks and infrastructure packages for residential developments, commercial schemes, and large-scale construction projects. With a strong reputation for quality delivery and a healthy pipeline of secured work, they are now looking to strengthen their operational team with the appointment of an experienced Contracts Manager.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for overseeing multiple groundwork and infrastructure projects from pre‑construction through to final delivery. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will act as a key link between site teams, commercial departments, and clients, driving performance and ensuring smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across the Portsmouth region
- Oversee Site Managers and operational teams
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations
- Monitor project programmes, costs, and resource allocation
- Work closely with commercial teams on budgets, valuations, and cost control
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track
- Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity across all sites
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure and groundwork packages
- Experience managing multiple live projects
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Strong commercial awareness and programme management ability
- Relevant qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree in Construction/Civil Engineering desirable)
- Full UK driving licence
