- Using hand and machine tools to cut, drill and bend stainless steel components.
- Fabricating bespoke parts.
- Assembly of finished parts.
- Use of oxy‑acetylene for cutting/burning.
- Welding pipes and equipment in place with submarine components.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship in welding.
- Marine / shipbuilding / ship repair background.
- DBS check required.
- BPSS completed.
Weld Test Requirements
- 12 mm butt weld in the overhead position.
- 25 mm plate: two stages, one side vertical, backside horizontal.
- 25 mm plate: two stages, first overhead then backside downhand.
- Evidence of eye test within last 18 months (desirable).
