Job Description
Our client, operating within the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Quality Manager for a contract position at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth.
This role involves extensive collaboration with the SRC Lead and a commitment to delivering high standards of quality within a sensitive and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing the quality management system (QMS)
- Setting quality objectives and ensuring alignment with business goals
- Overseeing audits (internal and external) and certification processes
- Managing the quality team, including recruitment, training, and performance
- Handling escalated quality issues and leading cross-functional problem-solving
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Reporting quality performance to senior management and clients
- Leading strategic initiatives for quality improvement and risk management
This position involves working within a live MOD facility, and tasks may vary as needed to meet the project's requirements, supported by training when necessary.
- Job Requirements
- Experience in Quality Engineering and quality management
- Professionally qualified with significant post-qualification experience
- Relevant academic qualifications in Civil Engineering, Quality, or Construction (e. g., HNC, BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng)
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training
- IOSH Managing Safely certification
- CSCS - White PQP/AQP and CSCS - Managers cards
- Extensive knowledge of quality management systems (QMS) and standards
- Proven leadership and management experience
- Strong strategic planning, decision-making, and communication skills
- Expertise in audit management, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Ability to influence at senior management and stakeholder levels

Due to the nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which may take up to 8 weeks, followed by SC security clearance, which can take an additional 4 weeks.
