Abatec is recruiting for a freelance Quality Engineer to join one of South West’s biggest Civil Engineering projects. This is an opportunity to join an award-winning tier‑one contractor that has secured an exciting, challenging, and ongoing project in Plymouth, Devon.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the project Quality Management System
- Prepare, review and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), including subcontractor documentation
- Carry out internal audits in line with the project audit schedule and ensure close‑out of findings
- Assist site teams with quality compliance, ensuring works meet project specifications and standards
- Monitor and track material approvals, ensuring certification and compliance requirements are met
- Review Lifetime Quality Records and support the timely delivery of handover documentation
- Identify, record and track non‑conformances (NCRs), supporting investigations and close‑out
Qualifications
- Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related discipline
- CSCS Card (White PQP/AQP)
- Experience of working in a similar position for a civils contractor
- An understanding of construction drawings
Additional
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS and SC security clearance will be required (this process can take several weeks). Candidates must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years and hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country.
Salary and Benefits
£400 - £450 per day PAYE Umbrella.
