BAM UK & Ireland's Infrastructure Segment are recruiting for an experienced Project Safety Advisor to join our safety team supporting the delivery of a new energy infrastructure scheme in Peterhead. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team delivering critical infrastructure that will enable future renewable energy developments across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a close working relationship with the construction team, client, supply chain and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication on Health, Safety and Wellbeing (H,S & W) matters.
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of the H,S & W management system in line with contractual requirements and ISO 45001.
  • Liaise with external bodies where required on H,S & W matters.
  • Actively identify and mitigate H,S & W risks from conceptual design through to the construction phase and beyond, with a strong emphasis on designing out risks.
  • Lead on H,S & W strategies and champion a positive organisational cultural approach to world‑class performance.
  • Support communication and understanding of all H,S & W plans, policies, procedures and initiatives throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure performance is monitored, measured and trend‑analysed in line with the client’s contractual requirements.
  • Promote the company vision and values in all dealings with employees, client, supply chain and other external contacts.
  • Carry out high‑quality inspections and audits that identify barriers and opportunities for improved operational performance.
  • Monitor close‑out of H&S inspections and audits within prescribed timescales.
  • Lead and/or participate in accident investigations, ensuring robust findings and evidence‑based remedial actions.
  • Understand incident investigation models and methodologies.
  • Attend and contribute to collaborative meetings, forums and workshops.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 45001 standards.
  • Valid membership of IOSH.
  • Ability to deliver internal health and safety management courses.
  • Ability to advise on health and safety issues on a day‑to‑day basis on site.
  • Ability to conduct standard accident investigations on host site.
  • Ability to write site inspection reports and audit reports.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working as an H&S Advisor on infrastructure projects.
