Job Purpose: To diagnose problems and make necessary repairs to maintain, and/or install plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive oral and/or written instructions from supervisor.
- Make repairs to plant equipment as needed to eliminate operating problems.
- Perform welding and fabrications as per drawings and blueprints.
- Routinely check operating condition of equipment and maintain records, as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance duties as needed and maintain record.
- Make installations and alignments to ensure proper equipment operations.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Minimum 2-year vocational/technical school with 4 years work experience in welding, pneumatics, hydraulics and related mechanical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to climb, bend, stoop, squat, lift over 50 lbs., work in confined spaces and work at substantial height.
- Ability to use an assortment of hand tools, pullers, hoist, jacks, drill motors and presses, saws, man lifts, portable crane, cables, winches, forklifts, ladders, welding equipment, acetylene torches, rigging, precision measuring equipment, etc.
- Ability to work with oils, greases, solvents and cleaning solutions, fire hoses and extinguishers, insulating materials, structural steel and plates, welding gases, etc.
- Ability to use a 2-way radio and effectively communicate with all departments.
Work Environment: Mill environment.
