Client Summary: A well established and growing Rail Engineering company based in Derby.

Position Summary: A supporting position within the Fleet and Equipment Team of a growing Rail Engineering company. The role will heavily centre on the monitoring of stock and equipment, as well as managing servicing and roadworthiness of small machinery and company vehicles. Working closely with the Site Teams to ensure availability and suitability. The candidate will also be responsible for overseeing building and facilities maintenance, acting as a single point of contact for on-site contractors when required.

Responsibilities

  • Managing stock, equipment, small machinery, vehicles, and facilities, while also overseeing regional administration.
  • Collaborate effectively with support services, site teams, and project management.
  • Ensure the servicing, roadworthiness, and availability of the local company fleet.
  • Manage maintenance and inspection, ensuring all equipment is compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Remove items from use when necessary.
  • Oversee goods in/out and stock rotation.
  • Conduct regular stock checks to ensure materials are correctly labelled and stored.
  • Issue tools and equipment to teams, ensure they are returned, and oversee the maintenance of all tools and machinery.
  • Oversee all building and facilities needs, acting as the main point of contact for on-site contractors when required.
  • Take a hands‑on approach to minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing cables, installing signs, performing lubrication, and handling small mechanical repairs.
  • Drive company vehicle, doing site deliveries as required.

Person Profile / Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to manage and maintain small machinery and equipment (PAT testing experience is ideal).
  • Hands‑on approach with ability to undertake small repairs and servicing as required.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) to maintain records, prepare reports, and manage administrative tasks.

Qualifications

  • Driving Licence – preferably with towing experience.
