Job DescriptionMaintenance Operative Permanent, full time We are recruiting a Maintenance Operative to support the day to day running of a high quality residential building in Manchester. This is a varied, hands on position suited to somebody with a strong general maintenance / Handyman background who takes pride in keeping buildings safe, presentable and working properly for . You will be the main maintenance presence within the building, responding to repair requests, completing planned checks and resolving issues efficiently. Larger or more specialist works will be supported by a regional technical team and external contractors.
The role will include:
- Completing general repairs across plumbing, joinery, basic electrical work, fixtures and fittings
- Responding to maintenance requests raised by and the site team
- Carrying out planned building checks and preventative maintenance
- Diagnosing faults and completing first time repairs wherever possible
- Escalating specialist or larger works to the regional technical team
- Coordinating with contractors attending the building
- Maintaining accurate records of completed works and outstanding actions
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and with minimal disruption to
We are looking for somebody who has:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, residential or building services position
- Practical experience across a range of general repairs
- A professional and approachable manner when dealing with
- Good fault finding and problem solving skills
- The ability to manage their own workload and prioritise urgent repairs
- A strong understanding of health and safety
- A reliable and proactive approach
- Experience within hotels, residential property, care settings, student accommodation or facilities management is essential.
This is not purely a back of house maintenance role. You will be working within a busy residential environment, so communication and customer service are just as important as practical ability.
