We are seeking an experienced Transport Operations Manager to take ownership of daily transport activity within a busy, high-volume logistics environment. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient planning, strong compliance standards, and exceptional service delivery across all transport operations. This is a key leadership role, overseeing operational teams, fleet performance, and customer service delivery while driving continuous improvement across the function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day transport operations across multiple routes and customers
  • Ensure all collections and deliveries are completed on time and in line with SLA requirements
  • Lead, manage, and develop transport planners, supervisors, and drivers
  • Optimise vehicle utilisation, route planning, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure full compliance with UK transport regulations, driver hours, and tachograph rules
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety across all transport activity
  • Monitor fleet performance, maintenance schedules, and operational costs
  • Act as key operational contact for major customers and resolve service issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs
About You
  • Proven experience in a Transport Manager or Operations Manager role within logistics or haulage
  • Strong understanding of UK transport compliance and regulations
  • Experience in time-critical, multi-drop, or JIT transport environments
  • Confident leader with strong people management skills
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • Commercially aware with a focus on efficiency and service delivery
  • CPC qualification desirable (or willingness to hold, depending on structure)
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS)
