As a P6 Planner, your role will be instrumental in supporting the planning team in the development and execution of energy type projects ranging from substation schemes to cable route schemes. The programmes you work on will run through different stages of the project lifecycle ranging from Preconstruction through to Handover.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved with:

  • Supporting the PMO team with developing and updating accurate programmes/schedules in accordance with business and contractual requirements. All programmes must be produced with high quality to ensure all programmes are clearly understandable.
  • Able to attend site when required to support the project delivery and planning team.
  • Submit programmes within the required contractual and business deadlines with an associated programme report.
  • Produce tender programmes which aim to produce the most efficient and effective programme of works in accordance with the design, specification and scope of works.
  • Undertake change event programmes in accordance with the contract and track any variations or change, and analyse critical and non-critical project paths. This is to be reported back to the delivery team.
  • Manage subcontract programmes in accordance with business and contract requirements and provide feedback to the supply chain to better improve the programme delivery.
  • Support with the development of junior members of the team.
  • Produce and update dashboards and trackers to support with tracking project performance.
  • Day to day communication with the Design, Consents, commercial, estimating, project team, client and supply chain to support with project delivery.
  • Host and attend recurring planning meetings to ensure all involved are updated on the programme and project plan.
  • Produce summary programmes, reports and charts to communicate the programme logic at all levels and with company presentations.
  • Be able to resource and cost load all programmes in accordance with business and contractual requirements to support with reporting on dashboards, earned value management and project performance.

Construction experience is beneficial but not essential.

We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate:

  • A detailed and forward-thinking approach to problem solving, excellent organisational skills and that you consistently complete tasks ‘right first time’ and in keeping with project protocols.
  • Demonstrable experience with developing schemes from pre-construction, through construction and into handover, with/or for a distribution network operation (DNO) is beneficial, along with a good knowledge of NEC or FIDIC contracts.
  • Extensive experience of using Primavera P6 including cost and resource loading to an advanced level and a good knowledge of MS Project, including the cost and resource loading of programmes.
  • An understanding of NRWSA (New Roads and Street Works Act) regulations would be advantageous.
  • Ability to travel between sites is key as is a full UK driving license.
