Merchandise Planner in London

Full-Time No working from home possible

Job Description

Customers see beautiful furniture. You'll see thousands of possible combinations, changing sales patterns and manufacturing constraints. Turning all of that into an accurate demand plan is what makes this role so interesting. The company is a made‑to‑order furniture business where every customer order is different.

One item can be available in hundreds of finishes, multiple sizes and countless configurations. Multiply that across the category and you're dealing with more than 10,000 possible combinations. Rather than forecasting stock, you'll be forecasting demand, balancing manufacturing capacity and helping ensure the right products can be made, by the right makers, at the right time.

You'll be joining a small, collaborative planning team on a 12‑month maternity cover, reporting into the Head of Planning and supported by a Planning Assistant. The role is based in the London head office three days a week, with two days working from home.

THE ROLE

Own a made‑to‑order furniture category, using sales performance, customer demand and product insight to influence forecasting, launch planning and capacity decisions.

Analyse sales trends, product mix and customer demand to help optimise capacity, improve availability and minimise bottlenecks. Alongside day‑to‑day planning, you’ll work closely with Product Development on new launches, provide insight to support commercial decisions and present your analysis to the wider business.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Planning to share insight and also manage and support a Junior.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you’ll have experience working as a Demand Planner, Merchandiser or Merchandise Planner within a product‑led business. If you are not based in a retail head office, you might come from a manufacturing, production planning or supply chain background.

Bonus points if you’ve planned made‑to‑order products, but it’s not essential. You should naturally look for patterns, ask questions and enjoy turning large amounts of information into practical decisions. With thousands of product and finish combinations, the role requires strong Excel skills, good attention to detail and a genuine enjoyment of working with large data sets.

THE REWARD

You’ll be joining a highly regarded brand with a good reputation and a strong range of products.

You’ll step into a well‑established role allowing you to focus on adding value rather than reinventing the wheel. During this 12‑month maternity cover you will be able to work on a hybrid basis (three days in the office, two from home) and benefit from flexible start and finish times around core hours. You’ll work with a supportive Head of Planning and a very welcoming team in a beautiful London head office.

Salary will be based on experience. £ (detail omitted).
