Job Description
Aspen Systems, LLC is looking for a motivated engineer to work on the design, development, and verification of miniature cooling systems. The candidate is expected to follow good engineering practices in the documentation of system designs. Candidates must be willing to expand their function beyond engineering development – Aspen engineers are frequently involved with transitioning designs to manufacturing and support of production.
Responsibilities
- Design of compact refrigeration systems to meet customer-driven product requirements
- Develop custom thermal solutions from concept phase through manufacturing release, working with the customers as well as Aspen’s internal manufacturing and quality teams.
- Interact with customers to define system requirements and interface
- Review designs throughout the development process in an efficient and timely manner
- Develop and execute design verification protocols in accordance with engineering best practice
- Generate detailed engineering documentation (drawings of parts, subassemblies, etc.)
- Conduct data analysis and generate written test reports summarizing system performance
- Design systems with attention to ease of manufacturability and minimization of system cost
- Work with suppliers to minimize component cost and complexity
Requirements:
Qualifications
- BS or MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent field
- 5 – 10 years of experience working in an engineering environment
- Experience generating engineering documentation, such as product specifications, system schematics, test procedures, and test reports
- Proficient in SolidWorks (or other CAD software), including creating engineering drawings for sheet metal, machined parts, plastics, or other parts and assemblies
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with hands-on laboratory testing of electrical and mechanical systems
- Fundamental knowledge of refrigeration systems and heat transfer
- Self-motivated: able to work independently as well as part of a product development team
- Experience working in an ISO 9001-compliant environment
- Proficient in MS Office
