About Ozlo Sleep

Ozlo Sleep is a Boston-based health tech startup transforming how the world sleeps. We design and manufacture an ecosystem of innovative sleep solutions — including the Ozlo Sleepbuds® — that combine cutting-edge technology and sound science to unlock truly restorative rest. Following the successful launch of the Ozlo Sleepbuds®, we’re scaling our next products — enhancing core performance while expanding capabilities that redefine what sleep technology can do. If you’re passionate about engineering products that directly improve people’s lives, we’d love for you to join us. This is a hybrid full-time role based in either the New York, NY or Marlborough, MA office. Candidates must be able to commute to either location.

What You’ll Do

As a Mechanical Engineer at Ozlo, you’ll play a key role in the design, development, and manufacturing of our next sleep products. You’ll collaborate across disciplines — from electrical engineering to manufacturing — to bring high-quality, user-centered devices from concept to mass production.

  • Design precision mechanical components for consumer sleep and wellness products.
  • Partner with electrical and firmware engineers to develop prototypes and integrate system requirements.
  • Support the transition from design to mass production (MP) with our contract manufacturers (CMs).
  • Lead mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product and process issues.
  • Review and optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and reliability.
  • Create and evaluate 2D drawings, identifying critical dimensions and key tolerances.

What You Bring

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 5+ years of experience.
  • Proven design experience with wearable consumer electronics, ideally with a focus on user comfort (earbud experience a plus).
  • Experience designing products from prototype to mass production.
  • Advanced proficiency with parametric 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks) including complex surfacing.
  • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis (max/min and RSS).
  • Deep knowledge of DFM principles across injection molding, stamping, and rapid prototyping.
  • Experience collaborating with global contract manufacturers to bring consumer products to market.

Location & Travel

Hybrid role based in New York, NY or Marlborough, MA. Expect monthly travel to the alternate office location. International travel (approx. 2x per year) to support manufacturing partners in Asia.

Why Ozlo

Join a team of engineers, scientists, and designers united by a mission to help people sleep better — and live better. At Ozlo, you’ll have the opportunity to build technology that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives, while working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where innovation thrives.
