Hours: 37.5 | 9.00am - 5.30pm - Hybrid working available depending on role responsibilities with 2 days working from home and 3 days in our stylish, modern and collaborative office close to East Croydon Station.

Here’s the exciting bit… A day includes:

  • Lead Superdrug in accelerating their Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, with a primary focus on environmental sustainability.
  • Manage a broad range of projects across climate change mitigation, energy efficiency, sustainable store development, recycling, and ESG reporting.

At Superdrug, “Doing Good Feels Super” is a core strategic pillar guiding how we operate and the impact we aim to make as leaders in the health and beauty sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the implementation and measurement of the Superdrug “Doing Good Feels Super” sustainability strategies, including Double Materiality Assessment outputs and alignment to wider AS Watson group sustainability projects.
  • Managing ESG compliance and UK/EU reporting obligations—serving as an adviser on environmental legislation, regulatory risk, and statutory requirements.
  • Leading on the ESOS action plan development, tracking and approvals.
  • Deliver ESG reporting required as part of the AS Watson Group and Cheung Kong Holdings e.g. CSRD and SECR.
  • UK lead on the New Plastic Economy reporting and strategy support for Own Brand packaging.
  • Oversee the procurement and management of high‑value contracts including our energy services and utility management and waste and recycling services.
  • Project managing major environmental transformational initiatives such as solar panel deployment, advanced energy monitoring and analytics, low‑carbon store design, and circularity‑driven waste reduction initiatives.
  • Acting as the business authority on Extended Producer Responsibility, including ensuring robust reporting and shaping the company's approach to compliance and operational excellence.
  • Championing sustainability achievements internally and externally by partnering with Marketing and Internal Communications to amplify impact and engagement.
  • Develop strong and fruitful relationships with external stakeholders to ensure we deliver on sustainability projects, including packaging compliance suppliers, energy management partners, and NGOs.
  • Engaging closely with the operational executive teams at Superdrug to embed sustainability into decision‑making, investment planning, and day‑to‑day operations.
  • Providing inspirational leadership through effective cross‑departmental working.
  • Horizon scanning for opportunities and risk regarding sustainability within the UK and EU retail landscape.

  • A proactive, ambitious, solutions‑driven approach to influencing change.
  • Strong contract management, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment and tailor communication to diverse audiences.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to secure support across the business.

What you’ll need:

  • Outstanding project leadership skills to plan, manage, and deliver complex, cross‑functional sustainability initiatives.
  • A strong understanding of ESG value creation and its strategic importance to business performance.
  • Ideally, a degree or equivalent expertise in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
